Susan Eloise Hinton (innate in July_22, 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma) is an American author who wrote five young adult novels in the 1960s and 70's.

Hinton's better known books come The Outsiders (1967) and Rumble Fish, both adapted to film by Francis Ford Coppola, which established the careers of numbers of 1980s film stars such as Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane, Emilio Estevez, and Mickey Rourke. These books treat by having juvenile delinquent and other high school subcultures in the 1960s. She besides wrote Tex and That Was Then, This Is Now, which were also mass produced into films. She wrote her 1st novel, A Outsiders, at a caring age of Xv.
